Posting gains
on the Plains
I had the pleasure of paying a visit to The National Provisioner’s 2024 Processor of the Year Seaboard Foods earlier this year. To get to their Guymon, Okla.-based plant, I flew in to Amarillo, Texas. It was my first time in two Panhandles – Texas and Oklahoma.
It’s a part of the US some of our fellow Americans sometimes refer to as “flyover country.” The term is a little dismissive, but then again a region where cattle and wind turbines outnumber people necessarily doesn’t tend to be top of mind for many folks.
But while Guymon might be a little off the beaten path, there’s quite a bit happening in this small town on the Plains.
Seaboard Foods’ plant here has been a fixture of the community for getting close to 30 years, and their latest expansion there underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to their operation there and the role it plays in the company’s growth and success.
