Rhino Shield offers its self-priming coat (SPC). Formulated with a blend of resins and ceramic spheres, the elastomeric-acrylic coating was specifically developed as a primer coat for wood siding. SPC also offers protection on many other substrates including concrete, brick, masonry and stucco. In addition, SPC offers energy-saving insulation properties and soundproofing.

Henkel has developed a new adhesive – Loctite 3296 – a dual-cure adhesive for lens bonding in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) sensors. The new product provides a very high-cure depth after only a few seconds of exposure to UV-light, and is designed to bond particularly well to aluminum and FR4. The active alignment workflow allows for the optical components to be positioned, and then finely adjusted to ensure optimal focus before being cured in place.

Paul N. Gardner (Gardco) offers a new wet film thickness gauge with the potential for the addition of a custom screen-printed or digital photograph. Gauges are conveniently sized to fit in a wallet and are made of solid aluminum stock. They meet ASTM D4414 "Standard Practice for Measurement of Wet Film Thickness of Organic Coatings by Notched Gauges.” The gauge can be customized with a company logo, contact information, slogan, photo, or directions for use.

Torrey Pines Scientific, Inc. announces its new EchoTherm™ programmable digital stirring hot plate for use in chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental, biochemical, and other laboratories. With the HS40 model, programming is done through the front panel membrane switch and full-functioned custom liquid crystal display. The unit can store 10 programs in memory, with as many as 10 steps each, where each step is a temperature, temperature ramp rate, stirring speed, and time. Each program can be made to repeat itself automatically from one to 98 times – all programs are stored electronically.

Applied Optix has released EYE Super UV Tester for exposure testing. The tester uses a proprietary, high-output UV lamp that generates ultraviolet light very efficiently. Its UV-irradiation intensity is 30 or more times greater than that of sunlight and conventional weatherometers. For even greater solar correlation, UV radiation below 295 nm is removed from the light source by a custom filter. The tester can be used in automotive materials, building and construction, paint and coatings, plastics and polymers, and composites applications. As a screening tool, the tester can generate five years of UV exposure in 10 days.

INDCO offers HSM-03V – a benchtop lift mixer that features automatic torque control, allowing the mixing of high- or low-viscosity materials, and the performing of high-speed dispersions with a single mixer. A 3 HP DC motor provides constant torque, allowing mix viscosities exceeding 100,000 CPS to be achieved with a supplied bowtie-style impeller. The 5-gallon mixer is ideal for use in product development labs or production environments, across a wide range of applications, including viscous printing inks or dispersions, drywall mud, and lower viscosity materials like paint.

ROSS offers a line of dual-shaft mixers that can be used to batch dispersions, suspensions, and emulsions with viscosities up to several hundred-thousand centipoise. The custom-built ROSS FDA-3500 has a maximum working capacity of 3,500 gallons, a two-zone stainless steel dimpled jacket for heating/cooling, a 4” pneumatic discharge valve, and an explosion-proof load cell system rated for up to 20,000 lbs. This multi-agitator system is equipped with independently controlled drives, and is efficient at producing good turnover and imparting shear to a viscous batch.

CIN presents a certified system for corrosive environments for categories C3 with very high durability, C4 with high durability, and C5 with medium durability. The tests were approved by an accredited external laboratory, which certified that the performance of the C-THERM® S100 intumescent remains unchanged even after aging tests under conditions specified in ISO 12944-6:2017. Products include a polyamide epoxy primer pigmented with zinc, an intumescent acrylic intumescent coating for passive cellulosic fire protection of metal structures, and a polyurethane enamel for corrosion protection of metal structures in aggressive environments.
