Bone Dry Roofing, a residential and commercial roofing company and 2023 Residential Contractor of the Year, announced two new hires are joining its executive team.

Tony Merlie is the company’s new chief financial officer, and Billy Smith joins as the company’s chief operating officer. Merlie and Smith round out the leadership team alongside owner and CEO Gene Judd, CIO Judd Haag and Matt Tyner, who joined as the company’s CMO earlier this year.

“Bone Dry Roofing continues to grow and expand, and that’s primarily due to our people,” said Judd. “We’re gaining ample leadership and expertise by bringing on these two individuals who both come with impressive careers that have exemplified a commitment to mentorship, leadership and strategic thinking. We’re thrilled to welcome them to the team.”

The hiring of a new CFO and COO follows the company's financial performance in 2023, which included revenue of over $183 million. Bone Dry Roofing’s total team count also reached 550, the highest in company history.

Merlie brings more than 20 years of leadership in financial reporting, modeling and analysis to Bone Dry Roofing. The Illinois Wesleyan University graduate went on to earn his Master of Business Administration degree from Purdue University. Prior to joining Bone Dry Roofing, Merlie worked for more than a decade in various roles, including serving as chief accounting officer for a premier global manufacturer.

ABC Supply Co., Inc. is showing how it's supporting roofing and solar contractors at RE+, held Sept. 9-12 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, where the company will share how partnering with a single-source supplier can offer significant benefits to installers.

The distributor will be at booth #C37015 to share the following information:

  • Single-Source Supplying: ABC Supply works with manufacturers that undergo extensive vetting and stock a large inventory of all the materials needed (including panels, racking, inverters, storage equipment, accessories and roof-integrated solar shingles) so installers can worry less about price fluctuations and supply-chain interruptions.
  • On-Demand Delivery: ABC Supply has one of the industry’s largest fleets of delivery vehicles and equipment to safely transport and load materials as you need them, increasing job and time-management efficiency. The company offers ground drop deliveries in all markets and rooftop delivery in select markets.
  • Warehousing: If installers can’t or don’t want to take a container of product, ABC Supply’s locations stock materials and deliver the “job-lot quantities” needed, saving installers overhead costs.
  • Credit Terms: ABC Supply’s Customer Financial Services team gives installers convenient access to lines of credit* and the financial information and benchmarking they need to grow their businesses. The company also offers in-home financing through GoodLeap for solar projects.

“The future is bright for the solar industry, but managing costs and overhead can be a tightrope walk for installers,” said James Mason, ABC Supply vice president of renewable energy. “At ABC Supply, we’re focused on removing the friction and making it easy for installers to grow their businesses.”

In addition to learning about ABC Supply’s rooftop solar support, visitors to ABC Supply’s booth can also experience:

  • Truck Racing Simulators: Take a break from the convention floor and experience racing an ABC Supply truck through a virtual road course. Compete against other expo attendees daily to win an Amazon gift card.
