2024 Next Gen All Stars: Top 20 Under 40

Triangle, Font

Next Gen All Star: Jenelle Melchior

Age: 35

Company: Consolidated Supply

Title: Project Manager

How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?

I am coming up on my 10th anniversary in the PHCP-PVF industry. I have worked for both the wholesale side & the mechanical contractor side of the industry.

What drew you into the industry?

I was looking for a career change from the hospitality industry where I worked as a Hotel General Manager, and the branch manager at my first position took a chance on me based on his own previous experience in hospitality. He knew the kind of work ethic it took to be successful in that industry and thought it would translate well to the position they needed filled. I started as an estimator in their commercial department and was promoted to a Project Manager position within 2-3 months of working with them.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?

It’s almost like getting to see into the future. We get to know what’s coming to our city before most people do. There’s also a sense of pride in being able to point to a building & say that you contributed to it, and that it will hopefully outlive our careers. We are creating a legacy not just for ourselves, but for the company we work for.

What motivates you every day?

I strive to be an example for women who may just be starting out in this industry. It can be hard to feel like you can be successful when you first start out and don’t have the knowledge base. Working for a Women in Business Enterprise like Consolidated Supply helps further the image that women are a successful part of the PHCP-PVC Industry.

What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?

We don’t just sell toilets. What we do is a unique combination of providing essential, life-sustaining systems, while also designing aesthetically pleasing atmospheres, and what we are working on constantly changes. In any given day I can work on an apartment building, a hospital, a school, or even a stadium.

What has been your proudest moment in your career so far?

Helping to build the commercial department in our Western Washington region into the success it is today has been one of the most rewarding periods of my career. This nomination would also have to be the one of the proudest moments of my career.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

I love all things Disney. I have a dedicated library in my home of non-fiction books about Disney Parks, animation, history, etc. I also try to get to a Disney Park once a year and typically hold an annual pass to Disneyland.

Jenelle has helped transform the commercial segment of Consolidated Supply in the Western Washington over the last three years from a wholesaler previously rarely considered for commercial projects, to a legitimate competitor to larger scale wholesale operations.
