Embracing the Winds of Change
In a world of economic shifts, industry evolution and rising challenges, bold leadership and a problem-solving mindset are key to thriving in turbulent times.
Change. It’s everywhere you look.
Tariffs are shifting the cost landscape. Storms are reshaping how we build. The stock market continues its unpredictable dance. Consolidation is redrawing the business map. Whether it’s the economy, the environment, or the companies we work with, change is happening fast and on every front.
And yet, change isn’t something to fear, it’s something to harness.
Our industry has always been full of builders, problem-solvers, and hands-on leaders who don’t back down when things shift. Instead, they dig in, learn more and get better. That’s the mindset we need right now, not just to survive change, but to lead through it.
Take Elon Musk, for example. Whether you like him or not, he doesn’t just adapt to change. He creates it. He’s built entire industries around challenging the status quo, and while his approach isn’t for everyone, the lesson is clear: change rewards the bold.
Mike Rowe reminds us that positive change can also mean getting back to basics, elevating the value of skilled trades and showing that hard work, pride, and purpose still matter.
And then there’s Malala Yousafzai, whose courage in the face of unthinkable adversity sparked a global movement. She’s a powerful reminder that real change often starts with one voice willing to stand up and say, “This isn’t good enough.”
Change doesn’t have to be big to matter. In "Atomic Habits," author James Clear explains how tiny, intentional actions, done consistently, can lead to extraordinary results over time. And in "Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard" by Chip and Dan Heath, we learn that successful transformation requires engaging both logic and emotion—something our industry understands well, as we balance planning, problem-solving, and people every day.
Einstein said, “The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.” That’s true for individuals, businesses, and industries alike. The leaders we feature in this issue are living proof—people embracing new tools, new ideas, and new ways of thinking to move the walls and ceilings industry forward.
Let’s follow their lead. Let’s not just respond to change—let’s shape it.
Here’s to staying grounded, moving forward, and building better—together.
